QUINCY,
MASS, January 3, 2009 - New
website, EasyFoodandWine.com has
introduced a section for Vegetarian
Recipes &
Wine Pairings,
offering meatless choices for vegetarians
and health-conscious individuals. EasyFoodandWine.com
was launched
in August 2008, and also offers easy
gourmet recipes featuring poultry,
seafood, beef and pork. Each recipe
featured on
the site includes two recommended wine
pairings.
"After
our site launched, many of our readers
wrote in to recommend that we add in a
vegetarian section," said Michael
Kass, co-owner
of EasyFoodandWine.com and
the author of the site's recipes.
"Many people choose to eat vegetarian
meals, either
regularly or exclusively, both for health
and ethical concerns, and we wanted to
ensure that these readers would
have options
that corresponded to how they
eat."
The
first recipe in the Vegetarian section,
currently the featured Pairing on the
site, is a Porcini Mushroom and
Asparagus Risotto
paired with a 2005 Novy Syrah from Santa
Lucia Highlands and the Giacosa Fratelli
"San Rocco" Dolcetto d'Alba
from Piedmont.
Amy and Michael plan to introduce several
more vegetarian recipes and wine pairings
soon, with new recipes
already in
the works.
“A
lot of people think that wine really
requires meat to shine, in particular
with red wines where the animal proteins
help counterbalance
the wine's tannins" said Amy Kass,
Michael's wife and co-owner of EasyFoodandWine.com, responsible
for selecting
each wine pairing as well as the content
of the site's wine blog. "Our experience
has been that this is just
not the
case - that the flavors, textures and
composition of many vegetarian meals are
every bit as good an accompaniment
and compliment
to wine."
